Lewiston Man Sentenced to 84 Months in Prison for Possession of Child Pornography

COEUR D’ALENE – Wyatt Samuel Parris, 20, of Lewiston, Idaho, was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison for possession of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Bart M. Davis announced today. According to court records, in the fall of 2024, law enforcement received a CyberTip flagging a social media account for transmitting suspected child sexual abuse material (“CSAM”). Investigators determined that the account belonged to Parris, who was living in Lewiston, Idaho. Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Parris’s Lewiston residence. On Parris’s phone, they found numerous videos and photos depicting CSAM. They also found several conversations between Parris and others wherein Parris discussed wanting to see and participate in the violent sexual abuse of young children. United States District Judge David C. Nye ordered that Parris be placed on supervised release for ten years following completion of his prison sentence. Parris will be required to register as a sex offender because of this conviction. U.S. Attorney Davis commended the work of the Lewiston Police Department, the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (“ICAC”), the Moscow Police Department, the Nez Perce County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which led to the charges. Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam Johnson prosecuted this case. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
