DAVENPORT, Iowa – A Quad Cities man was sentenced on August 12, 2026, to three years in federal prison for escaping from custody. According to public court documents and evidence presented at sentencing, Cedric Cornelius Shivers, 31, knowingly left a Davenport residential reentry center without authorization in October 2025. Shivers was required to reside at the residential reentry center because of his 2021 conviction for possessing a firearm as a felon. There is no parole in the federal system. Shivers was located and arrested on March 15, 2026, in Illinois by East Moline law enforcement. Shivers resisted arrest and caused serious bodily injury to one of the officers. United States Attorney David C. Waterman of the Southern District of made the announcement. The United States Marshals Service investigated the case.
