Anisha Devall Hunter, age 48, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge John W. deGravelles to two counts of wire fraud, announced U.S. Attorney Kurt L. Wall. According to admissions made as part of her guilty plea, Hunter worked as a senior accountant for a business located in the Middle District of Louisiana in 2023. In her capacity as an accountant, she had access to company credit cards and bank account information. She also had the authority to pay off the credit card statements and make entries into the business’s accounting journal. As part of her scheme, Hunter used company credit cards to pay for her own personal expenses. These unauthorized charges included rental payments to her Denham Springs apartment complex, among numerous others. She would then disguise these charges by making false entries into the business’s accounting journal, indicating the purchases were legit business expenses. Each wire fraud count is punishable by a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000, or twice the gross gain derived from the offense, whichever is greater. U.S. Attorney Kurt L. Wall praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Vick leads the prosecution.
