Court Sentences Mobile County Man for Possessing a Firearm as a Convicted Felon

MOBILE, Ala. – On August 4, 2026, United States District Judge William H. Steele sentenced Andre Jerrard Davis, Sr., to 46 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm after having previously been convicted of multiple felony offenses. According to court documents, on May 14, 2025, officers with the Citronelle Police Department responded to a residence within the city to assist with a theft investigation. Although Davis was present at the scene, he was not involved in the theft investigation. Officers recognized Davis from prior encounters and knew he had prior felony convictions. During their interaction with him, officers observed a firearm protruding from his pants pocket. They removed and secured the firearm, which was identified as a Glock Model 45, 9mm pistol. Federal law prohibits convicted felons from possessing firearms. At the time of the offense, Davis had previously been convicted of seven felony offenses: First-Degree Aggravated Robbery (Hennepin County, Minnesota, October 1, 2001); Check Forgery (Hennepin County, Minnesota, October 14, 2003); Domestic Assault by Strangulation (Ramsey County, Minnesota, April 6, 2005); Voter Registration Fraud (Hennepin County, Minnesota, February 12, 2007); Forgery (Lake County, Indiana, February 6, 2008); Theft—Take/Use/Transfer Movable Property (Ramsey County, Minnesota, April 28, 2016); and Terroristic Threats—Reckless Disregard of Risk (Ramsey County, Minnesota, April 28, 2016). U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama made the announcement. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the City of Citronelle Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Elizabeth P. Stepan and George F. May prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
